Online Lab - Micoscope Image

How does each of the
microscope work?

Stage
=> the stage is where you place your slide; the stage moves up and down and has a light source (stage opening) where you center your slide

Focus knobs => there are two different focus knobs the course adjustment and the fine adjustment.

Iris =>It is used to adjust the light that passes through the stage opening and assists by adjusting contrast and resolution of a specimen.

Oculars => The oculars on the microscope must be adjusted so that the light circles meet.

Objective=> Objective selection depends on what you are looking at. I always start with the lower magnification. The more minute the specimen the higher the magnification you need.

I find that I approach this with both looking at the microscope then looking through the microscope. I turn the light on, put on the slide, center the slide over the light source then move the stage up. I, then I adjust the oculars. Once I get the oculars adjusted, I look through the microscope and bring my slide specimen into focus by using the course and fine adjustments. If necessary I select a different objective maginification until I find the one that works best.
